| The Material in this section provides the student with an understanding of what
science is and also what it is not and its limitations. In studying this section the
student will learn something of the historical foundations of science as well as a working
definition of science and some rules for applying the scientific method.
Understanding the nature of scientific thought and investigation
and the terms under which anybody may participate in science, the student will be prepared
not only to participate if he or she is led into a career in science, but also to defend
and promote the right of each person to the freedoms which all participants in the
enterprise rightly should enjoy.
