Warfare In Heaven During this period of trial and tribulation on earth there is also a great warfare taking place in heaven as the powerful angels of God battle the Satanic hosts. In Rev. 12:7-10 Satan and his followers fail in their last ditch attempt to take over the kingdom of heaven and Michael, the great archangel, and his angels defeat Satan and cast him down to the earth. This than explains the total reign of terror by Satan upon mankind as he realizes the end is near. Thus Satan, called the great dragon, centers his attention and attacks on the nation of Israel in a final attempt to destroy those who keep the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ (Rev. 12:13-17). Many believers in Christ will be slain and persecuted during this time of great tribulation. This may be the cause of the final doom and destruction placed upon Satan and his followers at the outbreak of the last great woe. At the blowing of the seventh trumpet we find not one judgment but a series of seven as represented by the pouring out of seven vials of wrath. It is here that the final preparations for the greatest battle of all time are set. |
